The cuisine of the Amalfi Coast is what many think to be “real” Italian food. Pizza, spaghetti with tomato sauce, and eggplant Parmesan are dishes that come to mind. But these dishes, made at the source, take on a much different flavor when prepared with the incredible local produce, grown in volcanic soil. A pizza prepared at even the most humble trattoria tastes nothing like its counterpart at home. And there are other dishes to explore—rosmarina (the cavier of the South), polpi alla Luciana (baby octopus, tomatoes, garlic and olive oil), and costata (thin slices of beef cooked with a tomato, garlic and oregano sauce.

 

Join us for a week on the Amalfi Coast staying at the beautiful Oasi Olimpia Relais. This four star hotel is located in the little town of S. Agata sui due Golfi, just above Sorrento. It’s unique location offers incredible views of the sea and Mount Vesuvius. The Oasi was built in the 19th century by a German tycoon who actually brought the cultivation of apples to the area. It has always been known as an oasis of gastronomic discovery, even before it was a hotel.






 

Day One

You will be picked up at the Naples airport or train station and transferred to the Oasi Olimpia Relais, a charming country house hotel with 14 rooms and suites, all with private bathrooms, satellite television, and air conditioning.

  Tonight enjoy a welcome dinner featuring local specialties.

 

 

Day Two

A lovely buffet breakfast awaits you. In the morning you will head to a local farm, where they have been producing top quality olive oil for years, and where the matriarch has been making mozzarella cheese A tasting of this wonderfully fresh and light cheese follows, with olive oil and limoncello

Return to the hotel for an afternoon of relaxation

This evening, your first cooking lesson, followed by dinner with wine. Some of the recipes you may prepare include stuffed escarole, stuffed squid, homemade ravioli, shrimp on lemon leaves, and strufoli (small fritters).

 

Day Three

 

Breakfast. Today’s visit to Pompeii ruins by train with an English speaking local guide.

Light lunch in a very simple trattoria in Sorrento

This evening your second cooking class, followed by dinner with wine.

Day Four

9.00 excursion to visit the beautiful Amalfi coast

Today's lunch will be on your own.

After your Amalfi tour, return to Oasi for relaxing time until dinner in a charming exclusive restaurant

 

Day Five

 

Breakfast. For those on the four-night program, transfer back to Naples.

 

For those on 6 night program, morning free, perhaps to explore Sant' Agata or Sorrento

 

Lunch on your own

 

5.00 pm your third cooking lesson. Dinner based on your efforts

 

 

 

Day Six

Breakfast.

Departure at 9.45 to visit to the enchanting isle of Capri, weathering permitting

Lunch on your own

Return at the hotel at around 16.00

5.30 pm appointment in the kitchen to make our pizza dough in only 30minutes

Time to relax until 8.00 pm when it's time to make pizza!!

 

Day Seven

Check out and transfer to Naples.
